Did you look forward to 1st grade?
Most of us did! Children love learning new things, looking forward to their first school bag and new experiences. Even so, the transition from preschool to school can be stressful – they’ll have to deal with new rules and will be surrounded by unfamiliar faces.
We will prepare them for this big step in life in a well-coordinated team of 2 teachers and 1 assistant. How does it work?
Solid foundations for life
First of all, we teach them patience so that they can listen to the whole assignment and thus avoid unhappiness from only getting a half of the task done. We also teach them to focus on the task, which even adults sometimes struggle with in today’s age of smartphones and frantic multitasking.
The third pillar is to teach the children the skill of completing the task. What if something can’t be finished? How about a different approach? We are nearby and helping them manage all the emotions that come up while they are finding a way. We lead them to creative problem solving, adaptability and show how to avoid feeling unnecessary stress.
Independence and teamwork
We show children the possibilities – they come up with a solution on their own and develop naturally. We use games and fun tasks with children working both independently and in a group, and thus learning to communicate, express their feelings and perceive the needs of others.
By the end of the school year, the children are personalities able to express their own opinion and accept the decision of the teacher or the team consensus. No anger, no stormy emotions.
This will help them significantly to understand the rules in their first year of school, and then they can devote all their energy to what’s essential – learning and exploring.
Who is who
Each class is led by two graduated and above all experienced teachers who are tasked with preparing the children for the first grade in the form of games and more challenging tasks. They develop childrens’ emotional aspects, motor and social skills. They are extremely friendly to the children but at the same time they show them the rules which they will be encountering for the rest of their life.
Helps our skilled educators and contributes significantly to the educational process. The assistant is always close by and helping with all the little daily things of their life. Follows the instructions of teachers, helps with children with special educational needs as well as gifted children.
English and sports teacher
Arouses appetite for movement in the children and leads them to love sports and healthy lifestyle. Fulfils the important role of developing the child’s speech in several respects at the same time. For children with different mother tongue, they sensitively help to integrate with the group smoothly. On the other hand, they develop English skills in the Czech children.
Our preschool has many children with a different native language who speak Czech to various degrees or even not at all. That’s why we created the role of a bilingual assistant who helps the children avoid feeling lonely or disoriented. They speak in the child’s naive language or makes sure that the child understands in another form – like flashcards.
The daily programme looks very similar for all classes but of course the levels of complexity of each game and exercise differ.
